Bas Kosters wins Fashion Scholarship 2018

Designer Bas Kosters, who studied at ArtEZ in Arnhem (Master’s in Fashion Design) and Enschede (Bachelor’s in Fashion at AKI ArtEZ), has received the eighth Cultuurfonds Fashion Scholarship. The Cultuurfonds Fashion Scholarship, which comes with a cash prize of 50,000 euros, is annually awarded to talented Dutch fashion designers who excel in terms of artistic quality. Kosters was presented with the Scholarship in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam on 13 April. The Scholarship was established in 2011 by an anonymous patron and included in the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.
From the jury report on Bas Kosters:
Bas Kosters (1977) does a lot of justice to the medium of fashion in a deeply personal way, continuously paying tribute to its essence: creating awareness of and respect for the human scale,’ and ‘Kosters’ signature effortlessly combines simplicity and poetry‘.

Kosters not only designs fashion, but also installations and performances, for example. Previous winners of the Scholarship include Jan Taminiau (2013), Iris van Herpen (2016) and Ronald van der Kemp (2017).
