The Trophy as Used by the Artist

Helen Frik (Worcester 1960) is an artist, AKI tutor and the director of The Frik Collection Ceramic Museum (FCCM). As an artist, she has made the complete museum’s collection, comprising nearly two hundred pieces: strange vases, remarkable objects, bizarre implements. They are hybrids in every respect, carrying chunks from other worlds and former times. Each piece is capable of settling an overwhelming reality, bringing it back to the proportions of everyday life.

Many of the works from the FCCM are now in private collections. However, as the museum’s director, Helen Frik maintains a certain power and has managed to obtain the complete collection for display in two of the four Cloverleaf spaces. In the other two, the artist Helen Frik has made new works.
