Requirements
• You have a pre-university education, senior general secondary education, senior secondary vocational education, or an equivalent diploma;
• For the English-language programs, language requirements apply.
Applying
Apply for the admission exam via Studielink. Make sure to select the correct program and always choose Enschede as the city. You can apply for multiple programs with us. For each application, you will take a separate admission exam. During the admission process, you will demonstrate your abilities and interests and have the opportunity to explain everything.
Admission Exams
The admission consists of two parts. In the first step, submit your digital portfolio and motivation letter to office.aki@artez.nl before February 1, 2025. (For large files, it’s best to use WeTransfer.) After sending your files, a committee will review your portfolio and motivation letter. You will receive a rejection if your portfolio does not meet the requirements. If the committee positively evaluates your work, you will be invited to step 2, a 30-minute admission interview.
In this interview (in-person or online), we will assess your critical reflection and communication skills.
The interviews will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025, and Friday, March 7, 2025. You will receive further information about this.
Portfolio
• Provide clear insight into your visual and creative quality.
• Include adequate work in your portfolio, ideally between 20 and 100 pieces in different media.
• Alongside your work, provide written explanations.
• Your portfolio does not have to be perfect; we also like to see processes, intermediate steps, and sketchbooks.
• Video material (preferably not exceeding 15 minutes) can be linked in the PDF to YouTube or Vimeo.
• Ensure your PDF does not exceed 50 MB!
Motivation Letter
• Write a motivation letter of 300 – 500 words explaining why you want to study with us, which direction you are interested in, and the challenges you foresee.
For the Moving Image program, this letter must be written in English.
