AKI ArtEZ Finals 2026 –
The Future is Handmade.

From 26 June to 3 July, AKI ArtEZ in Enschede will open its doors for the AKI ArtEZ Finals 2026: the annual final-year exhibition of the Fine Art, Crossmedia Design and Moving Image programmes. During this week, graduating artists and designers will present their work to the public, marking the beginning of a new generation of creators.

In a world that is becoming increasingly automated, accelerated and scaled up, these creators are choosing a different path. Not by rejecting technology, but by placing human imagination, craftsmanship and critical thinking at the centre. Under the theme The Future is Handmade, they explore how art and design can open up new perspectives on the challenges of our time.

The exhibition brings together a diverse collection of installations, performances, films, digital environments, visual narratives and interventions. Each work constitutes its own proposal, question or answer. Together, they demonstrate how artists and designers engage with themes such as identity, technology, ecology, community and the future of human action.

The AKI ArtEZ Finals are more than just a final-year exhibition. They are a moment when new voices are heard, and new worlds become visible. A place where experimentation, research and imagination converge, and where the future is not predicted, but created.
