Gideon van Gameren, who graduated from AKI Fine Art Painting in 2025, wins the Royal Prize for Free Painting. Gideon received the award on Tuesday, February 3, from His Majesty King Willem Alexander during a special ceremony at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
With this achievement, students of the AKI have secured the Royal Prize for Painting for three consecutive years:
2024: Lieve Hakkers @lievehakkers
2025: Tobias Thaens @tobiasthaens
2026: Gideon van Gameren @gideon_gameren
The exhibition with the works of the winners and nominees is on display at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam until March 29.
